Why do we refuse ID cards...but love our customer loyalty programmes? Why are we concerned about electronic patient files.....yet we share many personal details on Facebook? Which taboos and desires will inform our responses to future technologies of identification and authentication?
In this multi disciplinary, comparative research project, we examine popular, policy and professional expectations about identity management in the near future. In the first year of the project (2012) we have examined how these expectations are represented in specific scenarios. In the coming years we will investigate how members of the public respond to these scenarios and whether they are likely to (dis)engage with them.
The research is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), and runs from September 2011 un l August 2014.
